Description
Children naturally love to cook because it’s a very sensory activity. From smelling basil to touching different ingredients, using our hands to create wonderful food and of course tasting what we have made.
This course is aimed at 2-5 year olds with their parents and encourages children to be inquisitive and not be scared to get stuck in with helping mummy or daddy cook. We believe introducing children at a young age to ingredients and cooking is important for their development and healthy relationship with food in future life.
Typical dishes you may cook are:
- Refined sugar free apple crumble
- Refined sugar free muffins
- Roasted vegetable tarts with home-made pesto
- Chocolate caramel coconut milk drink
FAQ's
Q: How old do I have to be to attend a course? A: All students must be at least 18 to attend a cookery course.
Q: I am not sure if this course is the right level for me. A: Please see under additional info tab for skill level required. However if you would like assistance in choosing the best course for you. Please contact us on cookeryschool@offbeetfood.com
Q: Is there parking at the cookery school? A: Yes, our carpark is free to use.
Q: I can’t see anymore available dates, does this mean the course is not running? A: If you cannot see or select any course dates, this means the current courses are full. If a course remains online it means we intend to release new future dates and advise you keep checking back or join our mailing list to be notified.
Q: I have an allergy, is this course suitable for me? A: We take allergies very seriously so in all dietary restrictions we recommend you contact us on cookeryschool@offbeetfood.com to find out what we can do. In some situations we can simply offer an alternative but for more serious allergies we may have to say you cannot attend the course for your own safety.
Q: Can I bring my child with me? A: Unfortunately our kitchen has a maximum capacity of 8 student and 2 tutors so for heath and safety reasons we cannot allow anyone else into the kitchen. Any children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in our restaurant.
Q: Will I be able to take any of the food I prepare home or eat while I am on my course? A: We always recommend you bring some food containers to take any food you make home. We do have containers but from a waste perspective we prefer students to bring re-useable containers. During longer courses there is ample opportunity to enjoy your prepared food sitting in our restaurant. For shorter courses most food can be taken home but don’t worry you’ll always get to taste along the way. If your course is in the evening and you are coming straight from work, we recommend you have a snack before the course starts.
