Our range of Plant Based 101 courses teach you all the basics. Anyone who has recently transitioned to a part or fully plant based diet, or has family and friends who are vegan will find these courses an inspiration and insight into what is achievable.
The course will be a mixture of hands on experience and demonstrations by the chef tutor. All recipes taught in the school are designed by OFFBEET chefs in the restaurant. As a student you will be able to access a wealth of knowledge from the tutor during your course and also take home a recipe pack.
This course teaches you how to make some incredible dishes which are equally suitable for a dinner party or an evening family meal. Packed into these dishes are some amazing alternatives to some of the meat and dairy products you may miss. We will cover coconut bacon, vegan parmesan, vegan pesto, gnocchi, basic cakes making and custard. This course is also gluten free!
The menu you will learn to cook on this course is:
- Home-made potato gnocchi with charred broccoli, fresh walnut pesto, coconut 'bacon' and pine nut 'parmesan'.
- Sticky toffee and date cake with home-made vanilla custard.

FAQ's
Q: How old do I have to be to attend a course? A: All students must be at least 18 to attend a cookery course.
Q: I am not sure if this course is the right level for me. A: Please see under additional info tab for skill level required. However if you would like assistance in choosing the best course for you. Please contact us on cookeryschool@offbeetfood.com
Q: Is there parking at the cookery school? A: Yes, our carpark is free to use.
Q: I can’t see anymore available dates, does this mean the course is not running? A: If you cannot see or select any course dates, this means the current courses are full. If a course remains online it means we intend to release new future dates and advise you keep checking back or join our mailing list to be notified.
Q: I have an allergy, is this course suitable for me? A: We take allergies very seriously so in all dietary restrictions we recommend you contact us on cookeryschool@offbeetfood.com to find out what we can do. In some situations we can simply offer an alternative but for more serious allergies we may have to say you cannot attend the course for your own safety.
Q: Can I bring my child with me? A: Unfortunately our kitchen has a maximum capacity of 8 student and 2 tutors so for heath and safety reasons we cannot allow anyone else into the kitchen. Any children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in our restaurant.
Q: Will I be able to take any of the food I prepare home or eat while I am on my course? A: We always recommend you bring some food containers to take any food you make home. We do have containers but from a waste perspective we prefer students to bring re-useable containers. During longer courses there is ample opportunity to enjoy your prepared food sitting in our restaurant. For shorter courses most food can be taken home but don’t worry you’ll always get to taste along the way. If your course is in the evening and you are coming straight from work, we recommend you have a snack before the course starts.
